Records from Echofront

The world beyond the page

Places, creatures, tools, songs, and fragments of old records. The archive opens a little at a time.

The healer's work

The healer's bag

Clean dressings. Wrapping cloth. Salve. Tincture. Needle case. Knives kept where a hand can find them without looking.

Nothing in the bag is impressive until somebody starts bleeding.

Greyfen keeps its traditions. If you do not care for them, do not expect Greyfen to care for you.

Bond: One clean gold coin per party member. Returned when that member comes home.

Greyfen’s cut: One fifth of whatever the party brings back, smelted or as-is.

Smelting: Two coins per clean batch. More for cursed trifles.

Beds, food, and quartermaster’s supplies are charged separately.

Location

Greyfen

A poor border settlement built around people who go where safer people do not.

Greyfen is muddy, cheap, practical, and unimpressive. Value passes through it every day - old coins, armor fragments, books, metal, things dragged out of abandoned places - but very little of that value stays.

For inexperienced crews, that is part of the attraction.

Bestiary

Crawlback

Small, fast, low to the ground. Usually seen on four limbs, though “seen” is generous when they decide to move. Their bodies look wet and badly finished, as if something learned the shape of an animal from a description.

They favor carrion, warmth, noise, and easy blood.

Field warning: When Crawlers show first, worse will follow.
